“I have been living vicariously through others… Those I know, and those I do not know. I have completely lost focus of my story, my life, and the main character. I have forgotten where I left off. Oh wait, I remember now!!! I’m at the building season of my life. Let’s pick it up from there” – SOT
Alice had been absent minded most of her life. She was never truly there whenever something happened. Always buried in one thing or another. Whether it was in her books, or in her thoughts, or in some story that she had heard.
Most of the time, she was buried in her thoughts, writing stories she had formed or rewriting parts of her life she wished to forget. It wasn’t that she didn’t have an exceptional life. It was that she felt like she could have acted, or done certain things differently in certain situations that had occurred to her once upon a time.
Now was not the time for what ifs and if onlys. She had just gotten unfavorable news about her ex Thomas getting married!! She couldn’t believe her ears!!!
How could He do this to her?!! He left her high and dry without any warning and now he is getting married to a close friend of hers. A friend she thought she could trust!! How unbeknownst to her that that same friend was in love with her once upon a time boyfriend.
Then again, he was never really an interesting person to be around. She never focused on him, or whatever kind of relationship they had. She couldn’t even remember how they began dating and how it ended, yet she felt so betrayed.
She was tired of missing out and always living in the world in her head. She absolutely loved the world she had created for herself. It was everything she wanted and everything she could be. But in reality, she was just plain old Allice who had accomplished absolutely nothing, and that needed to change.
She loved the world in her head, but it wasn’t reality. She needed to start taking hold of her life again and pay attention to what was unwinding before her. For although she had gone on many adventures in her head, she did not want to miss out on the real one unfolding before her.
After all, she was the main character of her life and needed to be at the front row seat as things began to unfold and unwind. For her story had not ended, and Thomas was only a chapter. Alice chose to focus on what was before her and vowed never to take a break from her reality again.
“Well, we will see”, she whispered to herself
“Life only happens once! Why waste it on imaginations and what could have been and not been” – SOT
